Checklist for a first year business
First Time Businesses:
Please make sure we have a copy of:
- Your articles of incorporation, or partnership agreement
- Secretary of State acceptance, with your corporate number (if corp)
- Form SS-4, Application for Employer Identification Number
- Letter from IRS with your EIN
- Statement by Domestic Stock Corporation (if corp)
- Form 2553, Election for S-Corp status (if S-Corp)
- S-Corp acceptance letter (if S-Corp)
- A list of all shareholders, partners or members: name, address, Social Security Number, and percentage ownership
- Fiscal Year ends on
- Amount for Common Stock
- Accrual or Cash basis for accounting
- If this is not your first year, we need a copy of last year’s tax return
You need to keep in your records:
- Annual Meeting Minutes – must be done each year
- Fictitious Business Name paperwork
- Copy of annual Statement by Domestic Stock Corporation (Original is to be filed annually with Secretary of State, with $25 fee) – must be done each year
